If a picture speaks a thousand words, imagine how much more can be captured in a 15 second video which comprises several individual frames coming together in slow motion to form a memory that can be preserved, re-watched, relived and cherished time and time again. Kasun Ediriweera, the managing director of Photobooths.lk has made the above described a reality now, with its exclusive wedding video booth which is fast gaining popularity among young and old folks alike.

According to Kasun, Photobooths.lk is currently developing unmanned
photo booths and hopes to launch it officially in the near future. He also said that they were working on kiosk photo booths to be used in marketing campaigns

With a passion for photography and an enthusiasm for technology to boot, Kasun says that he built the first ever photo booth in Sri Lanka in 2012 for a college carnival.
With pictures taken at this event going viral on social media, Kasun recalls that his business became an overnight hit. Afterwards, for almost a year, Photobooths.lk has been the only local company around that rented such booths for events.

“We had no competitors for almost a year. Now, of course, there are many players around – but the demand for our photo booths only keep growing by the day; what we offer is more than a product, it’s an experience,” Kasun said. In terms of the product offering, Kasun said that they currently offer a range of photo booths, tailored to fit the requirements and budgets of different clients.

Under services offered, he noted that they have exclusively introduced a system where pictures captured by the photo booths get uploaded on Facebook real-time. He also said that they provided the option of having the photos printed with a logo or a customized message on them. Props too are customizable and provided upon request.

Speaking further on their latest product in store, Kasun said that the video booth too has been received well by his clientele and was optimistic that it too will be a party essential in years to come. When asked how he plans on retaining Photobooths.lk’s position as the pioneer in the market they are in, he noted that the one way of doing it would be through innovation and setting new trends and thereby raising the bar high in terms of the quality of products and services offered.

Currently, Kasun said that he has a team of around 10 with the expertise, experience and technical know-how to work in any setting, outdoor or indoor.

“Our photo booths use DSLR cameras and professional lighting kits to capture the images in the highest quality. By using the latest dye sublimation technology and digital image handling system we are able to provide prints within minutes. Even with many digital cameras and phones around, the physical prints tend to fascinate and entertain users of all ages. At events our equipment is always backed up with extra hardware in case of any failures,” Kasun elaborated.

According to Kasun, Photobooths.lk is currently developing unmanned photo booths and hopes to launch it officially in the near future. He also said that they were working on kiosk photo booths to be used in marketing campaigns, to facilitate product-consumer engagement by placing them in public places or retail points as per the client’s requirement.

Kasun said that Photobooths.lk will continue to keep introducing creative and innovative solutions to give the partygoers of Sri Lanka the best of both worlds – photography and videography.
